Requirements:
A laptop or desktopInternet browser
An active and switched-on router
a. The password must contain a minimum of 8 characters.
b. The password must contain characters that meet at least three out of the four categories below:
Steps:
1. On the internet browser you have installed on your computer, type https://192.168.1.1 in the address bar.2. Log in using the default login credentials for your router, username: admin ; password: 1234.
3. Navigate to your WLAN configuration by doing either of the following:
Option 1: Click Local Network on the top menu, then select WLAN on the left sidebar.
Option 2: Click WLAN Settings on the Homepage.
4. Scroll down to the bottom of the page. Expand the WLAN SSID Configuration menu.
There are at least 8 available SSIDs on the list; four for the 2.4 gigahertz (GHz) frequency and four for the 5GHz (or 5G) frequency. Do not touch the greyed out SSIDs.
You are not required to set up all eight. Configure at least one (other than the greyed out IDs) for each frequency.
Ensure that you are configuring an available SSID that is marked On.
5. You may customize your Wi-Fi information and credentials, i.e. SSID name (or your WiFi name) and the WPA Passphrase (the Wi-Fi password) to your preference.
Standard Requirements for Changing PLDT Router Password
For your WPA Passphrase (Wi-Fi password), ensure that the following requirements are met:
b. The password must contain characters that meet at least three out of the four categories below:
- alphanumeric characters;
- one character in upper case;
- one character in lower case;
- at least one special character;
c. In the event of not being able to satisfy the three out of four-category requirement, the 15-character length must be implemented
6. Click Apply to save your changes. The page will notify that there have been changes saved and stored.
If your wireless devices are previously connected to the frequency you updated the credentials for, you need to re-select or enter the new password on the devices to record the new credentials and reconnect to the frequency.
About the 2.4 GHz and 5GHz frequencies
These two types of connections exist for optimal and minimal speed provision of internet connectivity. In cases where one of the two temporarily fails, the other frequency will get activated to provide connectivity.
https://192.168.1.1/ - "Your connection is not private"
You may encounter a "your connection is not private" warning when you try to access https://192.168.1.1/. If this happens and you still want to continue with the procedure, navigate down and click Advanced on the displayed page, and then click Proceed to 192.168.1.1 (unsafe). You will be redirected to the router login page afterwards.
